Meet 22 year old Eny Kludjeson, a fashion student at Santa Monica College.
She was born in Ghana and moved to US in her teens, alongside her older sister. After a year of studying fashion design and merchandising, Kludjeson has managed to build up both her portfolio and clientele.
Kludjeson recently started writing her own fashion blog, sharing her fashion tips and views with all her subscribers.
I sat down with Kludjeson for a one on one to find out more about what's going on in her life.
Q: Give us a brief break down of your fashion background
A: "I am currently a fashion design and merchandising student at Santa Monica College. My major has allowed me to grow so far as my illustration and construction experience is concerned. I showcased my designs at CornellUniversity in New York during summer of last year. The show gave me the chance to have my very own clientele. I feel blessed and I'm excited to see where it takes me in the near future."
Q: Where do you see yourself in five years from today?
A: "I see myself having a successful fashion house in the next 5 yrs."
Q: Where do you get your creativity and inspiration from, when it comes to your style and how you dress?
A: "My inspiration has to do with my mood majority of the time. There are days where i might dress up in a more quirky outfit and others i may go for something on the masculine side.
I like to play around with different looks, but it all has to do with the way i feel at that moment in time. My mother also has a lot to do with my style influence."
Q: You are originally from Ghana. How is the fashion there different from the fashion in the US?
A: "Fads in the US come and go really quickly compared to Ghana. Another difference when it comes to fashion is the culture. We have a lot of tribes in Ghana, and all those tribes have their individual cultures that they go by. But we are all very close as a people, so we tend to feed off each others personal style."
Q: We are currently in fall season. What is your must have item for this fall?
A: "My must have item for the fall is a collar necklace. I feel a statement necklace is the best way to add an edge to a simple outfit. Fall doesn't necessarily mean you should pile up your sweaters and jackets just because you are cold. It makes everything easy and boring! You can stay warm and look trendy all at the same time."
Q: What fashion designer do you look up to and how has he/she inspired you in your own career?
A: "I look up to a lot of fashion designers in the industry. I don't think i can just name one. Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Karl Lagerfeld to name a few. They are all living examples of what hard work and perseverance stands for."
Q: Any advice for students on how to get ahead in the fashion industry?
A: "Never give up on your dreams and aspirations! Once you are extremely passionate about any line of work, make sure you dedicate your time and effort into making it a reality."
